Parramatta's Shaun Lane is expected to escape suspension for bringing the game into disrepute following images that surfaced surrounding the Eels' Mad Monday celebrations from last season.
According to NRL.com reporter Michael Chammas, Lane will be fined for the incident which saw him holding a plastic bag with a white substance inside at Mad Monday.
Chammas understands Lane denied that he was in possession of the bag, or that he used or consumed any illegal substance on that day.
Lane has had a clear record across his five-season NRL career, which has spanned across four clubs (Bulldogs, Warriors, Sea Eagles, Eels).
The forward sent the private message to someone but didn't consent to the image being shared around, which could see Lane go down the path of legal action.
Lane is set to take the field against the Titans this weekend, even if he's fined.
During Manlys mad Monday not Parra’s. Get your facts straight before you publish your work.
Stephen Marson you dope, you should be fine also for writing wrong facts. typical reporter that has too much to say
swept under the rug of course by Greenberg as they have lost enough money from sponsorship
Stephen Marson has his facts correct. Even though Lane was contracted to Manly in 2018, he actually celebrated mad monday with his new club the parradrugga eels.
When will these players learn?
