2018 Golden Boot winner Tommy Makinson has been seen in Newcastle according to TotalRL.com,Β fueling speculation he could be on his way down under.

Makinson had a strong year for St Helens, scoring seven tries in 22 games, while also adding four in four matches for England, which was enough to see him take home the Golden Boot as the best player of the year on the international stage.

The 27-year-old was reportedly chatting to Newcastle coach Nathan Brown, with Channel 7 reporter Liam Cox tweeting out the news on Monday.

With Ken Sio leaving the Knights and heading back to England recently, a spot could be open on the wing for Makinson.

The Knights have already boosted their outside backs stocks, signing Jesse Ramien and Edrick Lee for 2019.

  1. Doubt St Helens will let the best thing in England since the Thirteen Colonies walk away without a fight… Will be interesting to see how this story develops.

    • Or… he was just on a holiday and wanted to see what “the other” Newcastle was like. Perhaps even get a seflie in front of a sign to send back to his mates in Newcastle, England? πŸ˜‰

  2. How’s he so highly raved about if he only got 7 tries in 22 games as a winger in the super league. Ben Barba got 34 tries in 34 games. Newcastle if they are serious about signing him should let SKD leave to the Dragons (free up cap space).
    Then start with
    1. Ponga
    2. Makinson
    3. Ramien
    4. Moga
    5. Lee/Ross
    6. Lino/Watson
    7. Pearce

    • I agree 7 tries in 22 games in super league isn’t that flash hot and I thought he was younger 27 if he was on cheap money which I highly doubt I would be all for it but not for silly money 7 tries in 22 games is laughable

    • Yeah he’s 27 aswell don’t really understand the hype. He might prove us wrong but on paper he doesn’t look any better than Ken Sio, SKD and Ross dawg

  3. Seen him before he defiantly has potiental like St. Helens are my favourite super league and manly NRL. Look if knights got his services it’s a good one.

  4. 7 tries is hopeless in English footy for a so call golden boot flying Winger. Sam Moa a front rower scored more tries since 2017 with 8 playing for Catalans, So in comparison if he plays in Australia will score probably 2 or 3 tries as he is only out scoreing props in England by less than two to one.πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž
