Wests Tigers star Ryan Matterson has met with Parramatta as he weighs up his playing future, according to NRL.com.

The forward was given permission from the Tigers last month to speak to other clubs despite still having two seasons to run on his deal.

According to the report, he met with Eels officials on Tuesday and will fly to the Gold Coast to meet new Titans coach Justin Holbrook next week.

The Tigers will reportedly not release him unless they benefit from the deal.

Matterson is set to earn around $350,000 under his current deal, but could earn more elsewhere after his rise to 18th man for NSW Origin this year.

He started his career as an Eels junior, captaining the club's under 20s team.

Both the Eels and Wests Tigers are yet to make an official announcement on the matter.

  1. WT will not release this two timer unless they get a decent player in return!..Jai Arrow Ryan Matterson..fair deal.

  2. He had an excellent 2019 season and if he went to Parra, that could only strengthen them with the Penrith front rower signing. Parra would be top four material.
Then if they could snare Wighton the following season they would be Premiership favourites.

  3. I can’t say I’m overly keen, even though we do to pick up an experienced forward or two. I just don’t like the way this is/has played out, unless (and I highly doubt it) this is more about his relationship with Madge than money.
Frizell would be awesome, and Arrow would be a very good pick up.
And whilst we’re on signings, we should be re-signing some our off contract players. I assume they’re done deals, and given I haven’t seen any rumours re those players looking/signing elsewhere, I’m assuming we will be re-signing them all, but let’s get it done, and/or farewell those we aren’t. As far as I know we haven’t confirmed Jennings (although that seems to be extremely likely a 2 year deal), Taka’s (I assume it’s a done deal too) or Terepo (I like him, but he has a loose cannon factor, so can understand it if we don’t), plus a few others, and we need to extend some contracts, like Sivo, D.Brown etc.

  4. I’m not sure on this one. I think we need an experienced back rower to join the club with a few older heads moving on. And I just don’t like the way this is all playing out. What if he has another good year, will we see the same thing happen next off season?
