The Dragons are eyeing Storm forward Joe Stimson as a potential replacement for Jack de Belin, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.

De Belin remains sidelined until his court hearing on April 16 and officials from the Red V will reportedly wait it out through this date before deciding if they want to apply for a salary cap exemption.

Stimson is under contract at Melbourne with 39 first-grade appearances to his name and is held in high regard at the club, but has not has not been able to crack into the team's pack this season.

Another name who has been linked St George Illawarra is ex-Dragon Trent Merrin with his Super League team Leeds struggling in the early parts of this season. However, the former NRL star has denied reports that he wants to return to Australia.

De Belin's hearing will also affect fellow suspended players Dylan Walker and Tyrone May, who were both stood down under the league's new hard stance against players with poor behaviour.
