The Gold Coast Titans have officially handed AJ Brimson permission to explore his options on the open market.

The star fullback and five-eighth who has been forced out to the centres at the Titans due to a list of talent that is longer than the positions available, is on big money and contracted until the end of 2030, but is now unlikely to be located on the Gold Coast when the players return for the 2027 pre-season.

Brimson has made it clear he doesn't want to leave the Gold Coast in the past, but has also made no secret of the fact he wants to play at fullback.

With Keano Kini in front of him, one of those things simply isn't going to happen, and it appears wanting to play at fullback has won out.

Even this late in the piece as lead into 2027, Brimson will have plenty of suitors.

We have managed to identify seven clubs who could very easily make a play for him, so in order of least to most likely, here are the outfits who will be in with a chance.

3. North Queensland Cowboys

As we see it, the only club in the Queensland state who could feasibly make a play for Brimson is the Cowboys.

The Broncos have Reece Walsh at fullback and Ezra Mam at five-eighth, and the Dolphins have Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow at fullback with very little in the way of money to spend.

The Cowboys on the other hand still have a host of roster spots available, and do have some cash up their sleeve, particularly from the end of 2027.

Scott Drinkwater leaves at the end of this year, and while Jaxon Purdue is tipped to move to the back, there is an argument that he plays five-eighth or stays in the centres.

Tom Chester is another option, but Brimson is an excellent attacking player and could be the most like-for-like replacement to Drinkwater.
