The Gold Coast Titans have officially handed AJ Brimson permission to explore his options on the open market.
The star fullback and five-eighth who has been forced out to the centres at the Titans due to a list of talent that is longer than the positions available, is on big money and contracted until the end of 2030, but is now unlikely to be located on the Gold Coast when the players return for the 2027 pre-season.
Brimson has made it clear he doesn't want to leave the Gold Coast in the past, but has also made no secret of the fact he wants to play at fullback.
With Keano Kini in front of him, one of those things simply isn't going to happen, and it appears wanting to play at fullback has won out.
Even this late in the piece as lead into 2027, Brimson will have plenty of suitors.
We have managed to identify seven clubs who could very easily make a play for him, so in order of least to most likely, here are the outfits who will be in with a chance.
4. South Sydney Rabbitohs
The Rabbitohs have some intriguing questions to answer in the next couple of months.
They are on pause with all internal negotiations outside of Tallis Duncan, with the club working out what to do with Latrell Mitchell long-term.
The NSW representative may not be a fullback anymore, and they have Jye Gray signed long-term, but he has been in and out of first-grade during the second half of this year, now stuck behind Matt Dufty.
The Rabbitohs could well attack Brimson not just from a fullback point of view, but also five-eighth.
South Sydney have been reportedly in talks with Cody Walker over his future, and are also understood to be internally monitoring Ezra Mam's situation.
Brimson could be a winner.
