Winger Bailey Simonsson has re-signed with the club for a further three years, which will see him a Raider until the end of 2023.

Simonsson was on contract until the end of 2020 but has impressed many at the club during his debut season that he's been rewarded with a further three years to see him at the club until at least the 2023 season.

He was played 19 matches in his debut NRL season, scoring eight tries and showing his elite finishing skills and speed.

Simonsson, obviously was excited to put pen to paper with the club,

"It's unreal, I've come a long way since signing on as a train and trial deal last year. I'm grateful that the club has given me the opportunity to stay around and it was a no brainer for me to continue my stay here in Canberra," Simonsson told raiders.com.

"I've loved everything about the club since the day I arrived here and I never saw myself moving anywhere else."

Raiders CEO Don Furner expressed how important Bailey's signature was for the club as he hopes it will be the start of players re-signing instead of pursuing other opportunities.

"Bailey is a talented young player who has been wonderful for the club in his debut season," Furner said.

"We want Bailey at the club long term and he's a big part of the squad we're building for the future."

  1. Funny to read they are rebuilding when they are two wins away from being 2019 premiers. Locking Simonsson in was a key part of moving into the future along with Klokkstad and Cotric in their backline unsure about the plans with Rapana and Leilua who were a great pairing but have had terrible injury interruptions. I think we’ll get used to Raiders being a force at the top of the table for the next few seasons. Ricky Stuart like him or not has done brilliantly with the Raiders.
