South Sydney youngster Braidon Burns has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2021 season.

The 22-year has played 15 NRL games for the Rabbitohs after making his first-grade debut in 2017, displaying great versatility through his capacity to play a variety of positions.

“I feel like I’m in a really good spot now and the Rabbits is where I want to play my football,” Burns told the club website.

“I love playing for this Club, for the Members and the fans. They are really passionate about the Club and they give us support all year round.

“It’s really important that we repay that faith that they have in us and for me. That’s about playing and training to the best of my ability and putting something back into the community when I can.

“I’ve had a good chat with Wayne (Bennett) about my football and he’s showing confidence in me which helps me be confident about my football.

“I can’t wait to get back out there in the coming weeks to do my best for this great Club.”

South Sydney GM Shane Richardson was pleased to see the young back recommit to the club.

“Braidon is an exciting young player with a great attitude towards his football,” Richardson told the club website.

“He has embraced his role at the Club, both on and off the field, over the past two years and we know that his best football is in front of him.

“He has the skill, size and pace that we are looking for and we’re really excited to see him grow under the tutelage of Wayne.

“The contribution he makes to the community through Souths Cares is also first class and we can see the pride he takes in helping those in need.

“We’re excited to have Braidon extend his time with us and we’re looking forward to working with him for at least the next three years.”

  1. Hopefully this is the year he plays the house down and Bennett gets the absolute best out of him. I doubt it tho. Can’t help but think he’s just a other player who was promising as it comes in juniors and just never married it across to 1st grade

  2. I agree with you SSTID. Before others jump in and ask about Robert Jennings, Burns has a contract for 2019, Jennings hasn’t (yet), So funds for Burns are available from 2020 onwards. no funds available for Jennings at his asking price as yet.

  3. I have been saying for quite some time to my Rabbitoh friends that Braidon Burns will be our next best outside back, i’ll go has far as to say he’ll be first back picked every week , has the potential to be has good as Mitchell from Easts, make no mistake, Souths arn’t silly, they reconize his talent, he is young and has qualities to be a very good player, good move Rabbitohs.

  4. Yes he does, and you’ll see for yourself madrooster, maybe a different type of player than Mitchell but his impact will be just has effective.

  5. Burns is another one of Souffths junior flops that just don’t kick on. By signing Burns means Jennings is on the lookout for a new team. How can they keep Jennings after signing Tom Burgess. Goerge is a gorner and there are a few teams out there willing to pay big bucks.

I heard a rumor it’s between the Broncos and the well under the cap Roosters that Burgess is wanting to play for. It’s about time the big baby is growing up and wants to be an individual man. If and only if he comes to the Roosters he will win a premiership. He would do well at Brisbane also. One thing is certain though, he won’t be at souffths. AHAHAHAHAH

  6. Shows all that you know yet again. As Burns was bought from Penrith at the same time Robert Jennings. Came all the way through the Penrith system & played in a Grand Final in Penrith’s under twenties.
So not a South’s junior at all.
Also hardly given a chance in first grade & has had other backs bought by the club & put in front of him. So I guess he enjoys playing ISP?

  7. Well that’s even better news eastofdividing range, that means Souffths who many claim on here are the leaders in locally born tribal juniors are not producing a lot and are now going for Penriths local flops. Together these two clubs that put so much importance on local born juniors have won Penrith 2 comps in 52yrs and Souffths 1 purchased comp in 47yrs so combined in 99yrs have won 3 lousy purchased premierships with combined nearly half if Sydney territory. AHAHAHAHAH

  8. Throw out whatever repeats of your old crap you like Timber Crow. Still doesn’t cover for your lack of knowledge.

  9. Rusc, if you were a true supporter you would know he is not a junior, just ckeck with wooduck your alter ego to set you straight

  10. EOD better to ignore this idiot , someone who parades mulitible Identities and pretends it’s not him, when all on this site knows he is Russc and other people, its best to ignore him, i know it’s hard cause some of the new people on this site believe his crap and don’t realise that he is in fact, a patient at a mental health facility.

  11. You’re probably right penso.
I was having a good laugh when I read his post about Burns being a failed South’s local junior though. When he wasn’t even from South’s juniors.
Why does he even care about this story? It’s not about the Roosters?
Loves to put in comment about anything to do with South’s . Really a closet South’s supporter I think.

  12. Your alter ego, Russc, said it was you who told him Burns was a junior, man you can’t even get your stories right and you control both posts, very spooky, very spooky
