Queensland has released the following statement on forward Matt Gillett, who is in doubt for Wednesday's State of Origin decider.

Gillett sustained a groin injury on Friday during a session, and was taken from the field.

Maroons second rower Matt Gillett experienced groin soreness during Friday’s field session and as a precaution, was removed from the field.

He has had scans and is receiving treatment.

“We will continue to provide treatment and assess his progress to give him every opportunity to play,” Maroons doctor Matt Hislop said.

As a further precaution, Gillett won’t take part in the Maroons opposed session with the Queensland Under 20s this afternoon.

  1. QLD may as well give this game to NSW if this is the case. Klemmer and Pearce come into the side and QLD lose Ponga Gillett and Arrow but have Ofa come back. Hopefully we have better luck next year
