Sydney Roosters veteran Cooper Cronk has been ruled out of his side's clash with the Eels due to a hamstring injury.

The 35-year old missed the season opener and was expected to return this week, but coach Trent Robinson has opted against risking him.

Youngster Lachie Lam is expected to take his place in the side after impressing against Manly, however, Robinson would not reveal who would play in the halves.

"Coopers no good, so Cooper will miss tomorrow tonight," Robinson told reporters.

"We'll name our 19 tonight, obviously given with Cooper out. Other than that, I know it, the team knows it and we'll see on Friday night."

  1. Missed the season opener with Souths? ZT wrong again. Cronk is still in shock because Cody Walker stared him down. Can you get a hamstring problem through shock?
