Cronulla Sharks duo Paul Gallen and Matt Moylan will be sent for scans following their side's 42-16 win over the Cowboys on Saturday night.

Gallen (rib cartilage) and Moylan (hamstring) could be racing the clock to be fit for round four, potentially leaving coach John Morris with selection problems.

"It might be a bit early at this stage, they can be quite painful. He [Gallen] felt he popped it, we'll have to get a scan on it and see how he goes. But he's one of about three or four that had to leave the field," Morris told reporters post-match.

Despite tallying just 23 minutes on the field, Gallen overtook club legend Andrew Ettingshausen for his 329th game at the club. And Morris highlighted how Gallen's sole focus all week was on getting the win.

"It was a big week for the club, he didn't really want anything done, he didn't want any fuss around getting ready for the game but we acknowledged it last night internally with the team," Morris said.

"His dad presented the jersey to him today so it was a big game for him."

Morris added that the early prognosis does not look good for Moylan.

"Matty Moylan doesn't appear to be good at the moment. We've got to have that scan on his hamstring, it's quite painful so it could be a decent one for us. Fingers crossed it's not as bad as what we think," he said.
