Greg Bird has signed a five-year contract with Catalans Dragons.

The 32-year-old was granted a release from his deal with NRL side the Gold Coast Titans, which still had a year left to run.

Bird, who was in the Australia side which won the 2013 World Cup, played for Catalans during the 2009 season.

“I had always intended to return to the Dragons,” he told the club website.

“They reached out to me and offered me a long-term deal, which I was only too happy to agree to. It’s a wonderful place to live and my wife and I are excited to be taking on this new chapter in our lives.”

  1. Didn’t see that comn , honestly thought Twent would have made him an offer , tough player , he will smash it up at the Dragons

  2. He did reasonably well after Cronulla to stay on track over 7 years- all the best to him. The footwork and robust upper body of Bird, Watmough, Lewis and Gallen were a breed of blokes that had better backrow punch than Qld. The new breed of Frizell, Jackson, Graham have that similar mindset. Qld lack the forward stocks but have better emerging spines.
