French rugby union club Toulon has announced they've signed Ben Barba until the end of Top 14 season.

Barba won an NRL Premiership with the Cronulla Sharks last season, their first title, before being suspended indefinitely by the NRL in November after testing positive for cocaine.

The 27-year-old was subsequently released by the Sharks and spent 28 days at a rehabilitation clinic in Thailand.

The Cronulla Sharks had recently announced the re-signing of Barba for the 2017 season but the contract still needs to be ratified by the NRL.

Barba is expected to arrive in Toulon next week and will be in contention for selection for Toulon's next Top 14 match at home to Lyon on February 18.
