Five players have been charged by the NRL's MRC following Saturday's two finals matches.

The Dolphins defeated the New Zealand Warriors 26-16 in Auckland to progress to the second week of the finals, while the Warriors get a second chance against the Knights next Sunday.

The MRC has handed down charges to three players from the contest, with Warriors forward Adam Pompey receiving the heaviest penalty.

Pompey was fined $3000 for a Grade 1 Shoulder Charge on Dolphins forward Ray Stone, which resulted in the Warriors forward being sin-binned during the first half.

The fine has been increased due to Pompey's second offence of the season. Should he contest the charge and be found guilty at the judiciary, he would miss two matches.

Warriors forward Kurt Capewell was also charged after being sin-binned moments later, leaving the Warriors with just 11 players on the field.

Capewell was cited for Grade 1 Contrary Conduct after entering a melee sparked when Dolphins halfback Isaiya Katoa flipped Warriors forward Jackson Ford in a tackle.

His charge carries a $750 fine due to Capewell having been free of an offence for three years. That amount would rise to $1000 if he contests the charge and is found guilty at the judiciary.

Dolphins winger Selwyn Cobbo was also sin-binned for his involvement in the same melee and received an identical Grade 1 Contrary Conduct charge.

Like Capewell, Cobbo has been offence-free for three years, meaning he will also receive the discounted $750 fine.

In the second Saturday finals fixture, the Cronulla Sharks ended the North Queensland Cowboys' season with a 26-16 victory.

The Sharks will progress to next weekend, where they will face the loser of Sunday's clash between the Sydney Roosters and Penrith Panthers.

Cowboys forward Griffin Neame was charged with Grade 1 Careless High Tackle after making contact with Sharks forward KL Iro.

Neame's second offence of the season means he has been hit with an $1800 fine, which would increase to $2500 if he contests the charge and is found guilty at the judiciary.

Iro was also charged moments later for a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle on a Cowboys player.

Iro has received a $1000 fine, with the amount reflecting that it is his first offence of the season. That would increase by $500 if he contests the charge and is found guilty at the judiciary.

The five charges come as the remaining teams prepare for the second week of the NRL finals.
