Parramatta will decide whether or not they will bring forward the June deadline they had set for the future of coach Brad Arthur.

The Eels have started the season with four wins and two losses, a dramatic turnaround from their wooden spoon season last year.

Arthur's contract ends at the conclusion of the current season, as does a host of other players including Clint Gutherson and Mitchell Moses.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Eels power-brokers were set to wait until June to make a final decision on the future of Arthur at the club.

This time frame gave the coach an opportunity to turn things around for the Eels, with the new Bankwest Stadium effect considered.

However, if the club continues its winning ways, Paramatta officials could fast track their decision on Arthur.

“One thing I can tell you is the deadline won’t be pushed out, but it may be brought forward,” Eels chairman Sean McElduff told the Herald.

Many players at the club have a strong relationship with Arthur, which could see them re-commit if he stays.

The contractual situation of the coach and players is obviously not affecting the performance of the team.

Eels legend Peter Sterling addressed the group before the game on Monday, which ended in a 51-6 win over the Wests Tigers.

“Sterlo was in before the game and again at half-time,” Tim Mannah said.

“It was good for him to give some advice, to whisper into our ear a few things that we can do.

“Obviously everyone has got a lot of respect for him and it’s good to have the old players come in.

“He spoke a bit in my ear, gave a few really good pointers. One of them was to be patient. The other was to have a lot of energy.

“I thought we did both of them really well.”

  1. Sterlo is a football brain and a really good accurate footy commentator. Its a shame he did not have the desire to test himself as a coach. I believe he would have been up there with the all time great coach’s. 🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱🎱 Johns on the other hand is lucky to get 50% of the predictions and calls correct during a game. Two opposites. Johns should be sacked as a footy expert. Sterling though is a genius. 😎
