North Queensland are preparing to launch a massive offer to secure Cronulla star Valentine Holmes.

According to The Courier Mailthe Cowboys will offer a deal in the region of $3.6 million over three or four seasons to entice the Townsville-born Holmes back north.

North Queensland head-of-football Peter Parr confirmed the Cowboys interest in Holmes.

“We were waiting to see if Holmes was still available come November 1 and now that he is, we will have a discussion with his management,” Parr told The Courier Mail. 

“We will certainly be making contact with his management, Chris and Gavin Orr, and we will see where it takes us."

The 23-year-old is considering returning to Queensland to be closer to family.

Cronulla are believed to have offered Holmes a five-year extension worth over $4 million.
