Broncos legend Gorden Tallis says his former side must chase the best this off-season, labelling reigning Clive Churchill medalist Luke Keary as his dream signing.

The leaders of the Brisbane stratum have promised for a sweeping review of the playing group following the club's embarrassing 58-0 defeat to the Eels that ended their 2019 campaign.

Adding to the club's halves stocks will be a key area when player movements begin to take place, with many critics in agreement that the current halves were a major downfall for Anthony Seibold's side this season.

While a host of names have been suggested for the Broncos to attempt in luring to Red Hill, Tallis wants the club to poach Sydney's best in Keary.

“They need a playmaker ... you have to go after Luke Keary. You have to go after the best,” Tallis told The Late Show with Matty Johns.

“That club - Wally Lewis, Allan Langer, Darren Lockyer - you’ve got to get the best playmaker.

“They can’t have 35 forwards and 50 outside backs that are good, they need someone to steer the ship.

“Don’t you go after the best? He’s a Queensland kid.”

Keary is currently signed to a lucrative deal in Bondi and will be rewarded with an upgrade once Cooper Cronk retires at season's end.

Other names that have been thrown into suggestion for Brisbane are Brodie Croft, Aidan Sezer, Chad Townsend and Cody Walker.

Fox League's senior league reporter James Hooper revealed to the Late Show that he believes Walker could head for the exit at South Sydney if the right offer came his way.

“He’s asked Souths for $800,000 rolling forward, and I don’t think the Bunnies are going to be prepared to do that,” Hooper said.

“There is that link with (former Rabbitohs coach) Anthony Seibold, so perhaps he could be an option.”

One possible option for Brisbane is luring halfback Ash Taylor into a return to Red Hill where he made his NRL debut.

Taylor hasn't lived up to his $1 million-a-year deal with Gold Coast in 2019, with his contract now facing criticism.

Tallis said that the Broncos may attempt to lure Taylor back to Suncorp Stadium, as they have done in the past.

“Everyone fell in love with Ash,” Tallis said.

“I remember Joey and all you guys talking about how talented he is, but he’s got to work hard on his game.

“It’s the same with Milford. They’ve got to want it, they’ve got to want to work on their game as well.”

  1. 🤣😂🤣😂
Keary will never leave the Roosters. After being chased away from that dump over at South Sydney by Crowe. He has found a happy home with culture and success.

Brisbane and Sourhs can’t compete with the Roosters in those attributes. End of Story.

  2. William , do you really think the Storm and Roosters will continue to dominate the coming decade as they have this one ? Doubt it.

  3. Wouldn’t we all have a good laugh if Keary did leave the chickens to go to the Broncos though.
Then, The Chickens would be going around signing up every half that comes into the market. Just as they have for much of this season.
Just a thought though. What about Lam? Chickens have 2 good hookers in Verrills, Friend. Another one in the North Sydney team. So no place for Lam at hooker. They have Keary, Flanagan, Hutchinson & the 18 yo Walker coming through in the halves.
Any club could sign Lam! Come on Brisbane, Dogs , St.George etc…👍

  4. So if Keary isn’t off contract why is Tallis coming saying this??? We quite often hear the media bang on about players breaking contracts well the last time I looked Tallis was still in the media. Shouldn’t media personalities be encouraging players not to break their contracts for the sake of the game, club and supporters???
    Cheers

  5. Speculation is incorrect regarding Mitchell to Souths.

Souths roster is not very impressive and have already told Walker to pick his game up or find a new club. George Burgess gone and they have no fullback while Reynolds is 30 and injury prone.

Your evidence does not stand up mate.

  6. Tallis is emperor of contract breaking and thinks its normal after what he did to Saints during the Super Garbage League War.

  7. @LidcomeOval, I doubt it
Do you really think Keary will entertain the thought of going to a club in turmoil, giving up his house Sydney, to play with a bunch of non-disciplined yobs led by an ego driven clueless coach?….Doubt it.. All this cause dopey Gordie had a brain fart, thought he fix the world….. Doubt it… Donkeys are going nowhere with Ego Seibold
Do you really think that Latrell would be interested in being coached by a cranky 70 year old man that has no more ideas?…. Doubt it……. To play in a team of already overpaid duds….Doubt it.. Think about it… what are they paying Cook, Jimmy, Murray, Reynolds, Walker & the Three pommie Stooges ? Plenty….. ….. and to your last comment “good juniors”…yeah, because they did a land grab all those years ago, went crying to the league. BUT, they don’t hang around.. it’s because they live in the district and they played their junior footy there and Souffs gave them a pair of shorts..big deal.. juniors huh… Souffs are going nowhere Zimmer Frame Benny

  8. Geez William77 the “Canberra Raiders supporter from Albury” sure has a soft spot for the Roosters and doesn’t take kindly to anyone on ZT bad mouthing them ….. 🐔💩

  9. Lets hope Burgess rips Taupua’s Stevie Wonder hair locks and if Sourhs win after they bash each other up in thus suden death game. Sam the hair yanker will be on the side line.🤣😂🤣😂 against my beloved green machine 😜
