Queensland fullback Billy Slater is in doubt for Wednesday night's State of Origin opener, after reportedly suffering a hamstring injury at training on Sunday.
The Daily Telegraphย believe Slater's chances to play in the series opener are diminishing by the day, with coach Kevin Walters already considering replacements.
Veteran Darius Boyd could replace Slater in the No. 1 jersey, although Walters is keeping the door open for young Knights star Kalyn Ponga, who is being touted as a future Queensland staple.
The Maroons also have the luxury of shifting Cameron Munster back to fullback, and bringing someone into the halves instead.
The Daily Telegraphย understand some sources in the Queensland camp suggest Slater is a certainty to miss the contest.
Anthony Milford, Moses Mbye join Ponga as players in the camp who could come into the 17 should Slater miss through injury.
