Tyrone Roberts is hoping to sign a new deal with the Gold Coast Titans in the next few weeks and has expressed his desire to keep wearing the No. 6 jersey in 2018.

Roberts has been one of the stars for the Gold Coast club in 2017 in what can only be called a disappointing season.

After spending the majority of his career at halfback when playing for the Newcastle Knight, Roberts has really shown his versatility.

With Nathan Peats out injured early in the season, Roberts slotted in the hooking role for a few matches. Then when superstar fullback Jarryd Hayne went down with injuries, Roberts then took over the fullback role.

"It's been hard. I've been put in different positions and I can't do nothing about that," Roberts told NRL.com.

"Because of the injuries that we did have I felt to me that I was the only one that could fill most of them roles.

"I just did what was best for the team and being the player that other players want to play with."

Going forward, Roberts has made it clear his preference is to partner young Titans halfback Ashely Taylor in the halves.

But for now, Robert's is just hoping to secure his next contract and enjoy his off-season.

“I’m happy here, I love it here and I hope I stay,” he told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“I will hopefully get something done in the next couple of weeks.”
