The NRL Grand Final will have a surprise entertainment act 11 minutes before kick-off, after executive chairman Peter V'Landys confirmed the match will end up having an entertainment performance.
The NRL was seemingly looking to break tradition and head into Sunday's Grand Final without an entertainment act after talks with Australian artist Tones and I fell through.
However, speaking to reporters, V'Landys confirmed there will indeed be an entertainment act for the Grand Final.
“Watch 11 minutes before kick-off, and there's going to be a big surprise... and you'll be entertained," V'Landys told AAP.
V'Landys was not letting any information out ahead of Sunday's match, but teased that fans will not be disappointed.
“I've got to tell you, it'll be the highest-rated 11 minutes you will ever see because no one knows what it is, and we won't tell until the night," he added.
“And a lot of people will be surprised."
The comments come a week after the NRL confirmed they're prepared to go into the 2026 Grand Final without an entertainment act.
Instead, the $1 million that would be spent on entertainment would go towards grassroots rugby league.
“My prime aim was to give $1 million to kids that can't play the game," he said
“Underprivileged kids that can't buy boots, that can't get registered, that can't get insurance. All their mates are playing and they can't."
Fans will have to wait for the mystery to be revealed on Grand Final day, as criticism flooded in about the lack of entertainment.
Particularly after the AFL headlined Kylie Minogue as their entertainment for the Grand Final.
Rest assured, V'Landys is confident fans won't be disappointed and will have to wait to see what the NRL has planned for the big day.
With the Roosters meeting the Knights this Sunday, the mystery performance adds suspense to what will be a historic day.
