Melbourne Storm hooker Harry Grant has become one of the league's biggest players intending to test the open market on November 1st.

The Australian representative is signed to Melbourne until the end of 2028; however, a contract clause could make him a free agent in 2027 if activated.

With Grant's experience, he is a catch for rival clubs if they can secure his services.

Grant has not ruled out staying at the Storm, but if the club cannot match the bids of those wanting Grant, he might be leaving the Melbourne-based side.

A move to the Perth Bears has been formally ruled out, with Grant not wishing to stand in the way of former teammate Tyran Wishart, who has signed a multi-year contract with the NRL's newest club.

4. Papua New Guinea Chiefs

The Papua New Guinea Chiefs are yet to sign a definitive starting hooker who will join the side in 2028.

Former Sydney Roosters utility Connor Watson has been one of the select few signed who can definitely start at hooker; however, he has always been one of those impact players who come off the bench and do their best work.

Grant could slot right into that spine, with reports that Melbourne teammate Cameron Munster could also be joining the side, having been allowed to negotiate with rival clubs.

The Chiefs can continue their marquee signing spree with Grant, who will add much-appreciated depth to the side and further representative experience.
