Melbourne Storm hooker Harry Grant has become one of the league's biggest players intending to test the open market on November 1st.
The Australian representative is signed to Melbourne until the end of 2028; however, a contract clause could make him a free agent in 2027 if activated.
With Grant's experience, he is a catch for rival clubs if they can secure his services.
Grant has not ruled out staying at the Storm, but if the club cannot match the bids of those wanting Grant, he might be leaving the Melbourne-based side.
A move to the Perth Bears has been formally ruled out, with Grant not wishing to stand in the way of former teammate Tyran Wishart, who has signed a multi-year contract with the NRL's newest club.
5. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
A move to Belmore is probably one of the most unlikely paths for Harry Grant, but with the Bulldogs' range of hookers still searching for an extension, some money could be freed up for the Queensland representative.
The 'Dogs have hookers Gordon Chan Kum Tong and Bailey Hayward off-contract in 2027 and 2028 and have also not re-signed veteran Jake Turpin leading into next season.
It is safe to say these players do not compare to the skills and experience of Grant, who could prove a marquee signing for the Bulldogs.
That said, recently the club announced the signing of 19-year-old Jaxson Allen, a NSW Cup hooker who had caught the eye of Bulldogs General Manager Phil Gould. He has been signed on a two-year deal and could benefit from the experience of Grant as he develops within the Bulldogs' system.
