A shockwave went through the Shire this week on the back of reports that Teig Wilton would be testing the market come November 1st.
Wilton is one of few players the entire Sharks' collective fan base can agree upon is a must to retain in the Shire.
Later in the week I'll run down why the Sharks can't afford to lose the left sided backrower.
Today though we're going to look at six potential landing spots should be decide his future lays elsewhere and he does decide to leave the Sharks.
5. Canberra Raiders
Reports are split as to whether Hudson Young is headed for greener pastures via a tax free pay cheque. I'd argue Wilton should be on the shopping list regardless.
Simi Sasagi is one of the game's most destructive centres. I'm not sure I'd be rushing him back into the back row.
If Hudson Young decides to head to PNG, then the Raiders will undoubtedly be all over Wilton as a potential replacement.
With the greatest of respects to Young, who I rate higher than almost anyone, a million dollar back rower is as rare as hen's teeth ... for good reason.
He may price himself out of the Green Machine. You can land Wilton for three hundred thousand less than it would take to retain Young.
Canberra also need a refresh. They massively overachieved in 2025 and were delivered a harsh reality check this year.
Wilton is right on the fringe of Origin selection and would fit seamlessly into the Raiders set up.
