The Queensland Maroons camp has been rocked by the news Patrick Carrigan will miss Game 2 of the State of Origin series with an ankle injury sustained playing for the Brisbane Broncos on Sunday afternoon.
The shock loss for the Broncos, which was the first win of the year for the St George Illawarra Dragons, will leave plenty of question marks surrounding that club, but more immediately, Billy Slater will need to pick a replacement.
There are as many as six players he could lean on, with some requiring a slight strategy tweak for Carrigan's bench spot.
Here are the options.
2. Thomas Gilbert
Some will probably argue Gilbert was unlucky to miss selection for Game 1 of the series, although there is certainly something not quite right with the aggressive forward.
His minutes have been limited at the Dolphins, that much is for sure.
However, it became clear during Game 1 that the Maroons needed to find an answer to Cameron Murray, and Patrick Carrigan targetting him all night could have been the way to go.
Queensland now need someone to do just that, and Gilbert's aggression could be the way to go in shutting down the South Sydney Rabbitohs star.
