The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the addition of Peter Gentle as Assistant Coach for the next two seasons.
Gentle will work alongside current Rabbitohs Assistant Coach David Furner in supporting Head Coach Anthony Seibold throughout the season. Furner will have a focus on the teamโs attack while Gentle will have an emphasis on the teamโs defence.
Gentle brings with him a wealth of experience in coaching over the past two decades. He has been the Assistant Coach to Brad Arthur at the Parramatta Eels for the past four seasons and prior to that was the Head Coach of Hull FC in the English Super League. He has also been the Assistant Coach for the Australian Kangaroos and Wests Tigers under Tim Sheens, Assistant Coach at the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, and Assistant Coach of Italy at the last Rugby League World Cup.
Gentle has been Head Coach of the NSW under 18s team; Wests Tigers NYC; the Balmain, Cronulla and Western Suburbs Premier League sides; and the Western Suburbs Jersey Flegg, SG Ball and Harold Matthews junior representative teams. He is a former halfback who played first grade with the St George Dragons.
Rabbitohs Head Coach Anthony Seibold is pleased to have the support of such an experienced set of Assistant Coaches.
โPeter is a very experienced coach that has had success with a number of organisations and theyโre the sorts of people we want around our Club,โ Coach Seibold said.
โHeโs worked under good coaches like Tim Sheens and Brad Arthur, took Hull FC to a Challenge Cup Final in the UK Super League and was an Assistant Coach with the Kangaroos alongside Dave Furner.
โHeโll be our Forwards Coach which is the role heโs held at Parramatta for the last four years and has worked closely with a number of our staff previously including Dave at the Kangaroos and our Head of Performance Paul Devlin at both Parramatta and Hull FC.
โWeโre all looking forward to working with him and getting our 2018 season underway.โ
