We are officially a quarter of the way through the 2026 NRL season, and the run to the State of Origin window is underway.

There have been surprises a plenty - both positive and negative.

Two coaches being sacked by this stage of the season has been the biggest shock, but with only one winless team left and three wins separating 2nd and 16th place on the table, the season feels as wide open as any in recent times.

The Penrith Panthers might be back to their dominant ways, but with a shake up of the rugby league landscape, and all of last year's top four sitting outside the top eight, there are plenty of opportunities for the season to continue shaking out in the coming months.

Here is every team's grade for the opening quarter of the season.

Canberra Raiders

Grade: C-
Current record: 13th place, 3 wins, 4 losses, 6 points, - 63

Canberra have been difficult to get a read on early in the season, but for a team who took out the minor premiership last season, it would be difficult to label them as anything other than disappointing so far this year.

The Green Machine did save face with an excellent win over the Melbourne Storm on the weekend in a sign things might be about to turn - but also, beating the Storm at this stage doesn't mean what it has in previous seasons.

Ethan Sanders is growing into his role though, and the forwards still pack plenty of power, but they will need to build form and consistency now.

If they can do that, then this tip will have egg on its face. They haven't shown enough this year so far though, to suggest they'll be able to do that, particularly without Jamal Fogarty to control them through some of the season's bigger moments.
