Panthers champion centre Paul Momirovski is set to land a new deal to remain with Penrith for the 2022 season and beyond.

The 25-year-old capped off his first season at the foot of the mountains in style, playing a key role in Penrith's Grand Final victory over South Sydney on Sunday.

The 2021 season saw Momirovski feature for his fourth NRL club in as many years after first making his debut with the Roosters in 2018 before stints with the Tigers and Storm.

The Rabbitohs SG Ball product was able to claim a premiership ring with the Panthers in their thrilling 14-12 win at Suncorp Stadium one year after missing out on Melbourne's triumphant outing against Penrith in the 2020 season decider.

Momirovski also missed out on taking to the field with the Roosters in 2018, making his victory with the Panthers on the weekend so much sweeter.

After famously trading places with Storm hooker Harry Grant as part of a loan-swap deal last season, the New South Welshman opted to depart Concord following his return to the Tigers.

Following failed release attempts, the Tigers were soon able to send Momirovski to the foot of the mountains in a deal that saw Daine Laurie venture to the Tigers a year earlier than planned.

Having been seen on the outer at the Tigers earlier this season, Momirovski now looks destined to sign a new deal with the 2021 premiers.

Speaking to NCA Newswire's Matt Logue, Penrith CEO Brian Fletcher revealed talks with the promising centre will be underway in a matter of time.

“We’ll sit down with Paul and the retention committee in the new year and discuss his future – I’d say he will be a Panther for a while, that is for sure,” Fletcher said.

“He is a great player, and he has been a great asset to our club.

“He will become an essential part of the team because those two other players (Burton and Naden) have moved on.

“Paul also had such an outstanding game in the grand final, so he will be part of our discussions when everyone gets back to work in the new year.”

With the departures of Matt Burton and Brent Naden heading to Canterbury, Momirovski will likely step into a greater role under Ivan Cleary next year.

Momirovski has played 38 games in the NRL across spells with the Chooks, Tigers, Storm and now Panthers, with half of his career games tally coming in 2021.
