Penrith are set to keep coach Cameron Ciraldo on for at least the 2019 season, following news on Wednesday suggesting the club is set to put forward a three-year contract to Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary.

NRL.com revealed Ciraldo will coach the club in 2019, after leading them to semi-final weekend after taking over as caretaker coach.

The Panthers have kept the door open for Cleary to return to the foot of the mountains and coach son Nathan, with reports suggesting he'll be handed an offer to take over at the club in 2021, after his current Tigers deal ends.

However, the Tigers could decide to cut Cleary's deal short, if in fact he does commit to the Panthers with two seasons left to run on his deal.

The Tigers are adamant it won't happen, with Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe once again confirming their plans for Cleary.

"I don't know how many different ways I can say this, but Ivan has a contract here until the end of 2020," Pascoe told NRL.com.

With Penrith sure to continue their chase for Cleary, it's definitely a story worth watching.
