Former New Zealand Warrior Shaun Johnson may only be available as a rental player for 2019, according to a report by Nine's Wide World of Sports.

After being officially released from his deal by the Warriors, a number of clubs are reportedly keen on the Kiwi Test star's services, with links already being made to the the Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and Cronulla Sharks.

However, it is understood that Johnson's management has told clubs he will only sign a one-year deal for the 2019 season, implying that the 28-year old has already agreed in principle to a deal with a club for 2020.

The Sharks shape as the most likely destination with the salary freed up from Valentine Holmes' shock defection to the NFL.
