The Newcastle Knights are on the verge of announcing winger Dominic Young has re-signed with the club on a four-year deal.
Fresh reports from the Newcastle Herald reveal it has all but been announced that Young will remain in the Hunter long-term, and it's expected to be made official before the finals kick off.
Young arrived in Australia in 2021 but secured a breakout year two years later, playing 25 matches and scoring 25 tries for the Knights in their strong 2023 campaign.
He immediately made the switch to Bondi the following year, where he enjoyed a successful year scoring another 20 tries for the Roosters before he returned to the Knights in a mid-season transfer in 2025.
Since his return last year, Young has rounded out his game and is one of the most dangerous wingers in the competition on his edge with veteran centre Dane Gagai.
He now boasts an incredible try-scoring rate of 93 tries in 115 games in the NRL.
Young joins recently extended stars Dylan Lucas, Jermaine McEwen and rising talent Francis Manuleleua, who have agreed to terms to remain in the Hunter long-term under Justin Holbrook's exciting vision for the Knights.
Young is expected to feature heavily in the England squad in this year's upcoming Rugby League World Cup, which starts in October.
Young has proven his attacking prowess on an international level and flexed his try-scoring muscle in the 2022 tournament, scoring four tries against Greece and equalling the record for most tries scored in a Test by an Englishman.
His total tries were brought to nine in the 2022 World Cup, and he poses a formidable threat in the air or with his elite speed out wide.
Young was suspended for one match for a hip-drop tackle on Tolutau Koula in the club's Round 25 loss to Manly, which was served when they travelled to Auckland on Sunday.
The Knights will round out their 2026 regular season with a much-needed bye in the final week.
They will enter the finals series in the elimination play-offs, unfortunately missing star personnel Lucas, Manuleleua and Dylan Brown with long-term injuries, while also having Jacob Saifiti missing the rest of the season for a nasty send-off shot on Warriors' Luke Laulilii.
