Manly Sea Eagles star Tolutau Koula has been ruled out for the rest of the match and will likely miss the final two games of the season after being tackled in a dangerous hip-drop manner by Knights winger Dominic Young.
Prior to Caleb Navale's try in the 32nd minute against the Knights, Koula almost scored a try of his own on the left edge.
However, he was stopped before the line with a hip-drop tackle from Dominic Young.
During the Fox Sports broadcast, it was revealed that the Manly Sea Eagles suspect a syndesmosis injury for Koula.
After Jamal Fogarty kicked the conversion for Navale's try, match referee Wyatt Raymond stopped the Knights before they set up the kick-off back to Manly.
Raymond called for Kalyn Ponga, the captain of the Knights, and Young, whom he put on report and sent to the sin bin in the 34th minute.
Koula was seen attempting to walk back to his own end with the trainer, but was then taken off the field.
Outside back Josh Feledy, who was on the extended bench for Manly, replaced the NSW Blues star and has remained on the field since.
Tom Trbojevic was also put in a hip-drop scenario by Knights forward Tyson Frizell in the final minutes of the first half and was seen limping.
However, after talking with the trainer, he went back to join his teammates and continued to play.
Dominic Young could potentially be handed a lengthy suspension, and it would be a blow for the Knights, who are almost set to play in the first week of the finals.
The Knights play their last game of the season next week against the Warriors in New Zealand before their bye in Round 27.
Young would be able to serve only one game of any suspension set by the Match Review Committee before the finals.
The severity of the injury could impact how much time Koula has to prepare before the 2026 Rugby League World Cup in October.
The Manly Sea Eagles caused an upset, winning 44-24 over the Newcastle Knights, achieving the club's 1000th win in the process.
