The NRL Grand Final will be led by Ben Cummins, while Gerard Sutton has been named as the assistant referee for Sunday's decider between Canberra and South Sydney.

NRL Head of Football Elite Competitions Graham Annesley said the pair were the best referees over the finals series, and deserved their chance to call the decider.

"Ben and Gerry have been the stand-out referees in the finals series and they will make an excellent team on Sunday in the Grand Final," Annesley told NRL.com.

"They have a significant amount of experience in big games.

"They have both refereed in Grand Finals previously and Gerry refereed in all three State of Origins this year.

"There is no doubt in my mind they are the best referees for the job."

This will be both Cummins and Sutton's fifth grand final, with Sutton involved in the last five.

Kasey Badger will lead the NRLW decider, with Daniel Schwass her assistant.

Badger is the first woman to take control of the NRLW grand final, after being an assist referee last year.

MORE TO COME.

  1. They couldn’t have appointed anyone worse than these two. Sutton gets there thanks to his brother again. Certainly not on merit. This guy ruins games time and time but NEVER gets dropped for his pathetic performances.

  2. Roosters better watch out cause cu_mm_ins doesn’t like you! How pathethic ZT that I can’t post his proper spelt name on this site. Yet you can in your article.
