The excitement of seeing the best athletes in the world compete for two weeks is simply brilliant.

But the story of the Olympic Games is not limited to those who win gold or who manage to get on the podium.

The inspiring stories behind those who even reach the Olympic are just as important.

One such example is that of South Sudan 400 metre runner, Margret Rumat Rumat Hassan.

Hussan grew up amidst the Sudanese civil war. Her awe inspiring tale of persistence is told in Samsung’s film, ‘The Chant’ continuing the technology company’s support of defying barriers and conveying the Olympic spirit of harmony and generating cultural, personal, and technological progress.

Hassan began competitive racing after encouragement from a friend and eventually discovered her immense talent for running.

Her talents lead her to compete as an Independent Olympic Athlete during the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

In 2015, South Sudan National Olympic Committee (NOC) was admitted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), giving Margret hope to compete under her own nation’s flag for the first time during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The film is the latest in Samsung’s promotion of the untold stories of courage and persistence of the Olympics, with the release of ‘A fighting chance,’ earlier this year, which explored the stories of four athletes and Olympic hopefuls who has broken barriers in an attempt to reach the Rio 2016 and create history for their country.

Samsung is the Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Wireless Communications Equipment category and has been a sponsor of the Olympics since the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games.

Samsung’s commitment to the Games will continue until at least Tokyo 2020.
