St Helens playmaker and former NRL player Jackson Hastings is set to miss the final three games of the season after punching a player in his most recent Super League match.
Hastings was sent off during the first half of the match against Castleford Tigers for punching Tyler Dupree in the most recent round of the Super League.
The 30-year-old received a Grade E punching charge, and due to his previous record, Hastings' send-off and punch were enough to earn a three-match ban.
He will miss pivotal clashes that could define the Saints' season.
Tyler Dupree, the Tigers forward, was sin-binned for his involvement as he attempted to make his way down the tunnel and charge down Hastings.
The 2019 Man of Steel winner will miss the match against their rivals, Leeds Rhinos, then the Leigh Leopards and Hull KR to finish the season.
The former Newcastle Knights half sits second in try assists with 28, only behind Jake Connor.
Near the end of July, St Helens coach Paul Rowley left the Super League after nine months in charge.
Currently, Eamon O'Carroll, who was an assistant coach, has become the club's interim coach for the remainder of the season.
Kevin Walters recently signed to become the Saints coach on a three-year deal starting from next season.
The current Kangaroos coach will start his new role with the Saints after coaching Australia in the World Cup, which starts in October.
Hastings' future in the Super League remains uncertain, with analysts calling for St Helens to prioritise their younger talent and let Hastings' 12-month deal run out.
St Helens' current roster consists of former NRL players Tristan Sailor, Curtis Sironen, David Klemmer, and Jacob Host.
The club has also signed former Wests Tigers centre Solomona Faataape on a two-year deal starting from the 2027 season.
Currently, the Saints are hoping to finish in the top six after their 36-12 win over the Tigers.
If the Saints fail to place higher than either Hull KR, who are 6th on the ladder with 32 points, or Leigh Leopards, who are fifth with 32 points, Hastings will have played his last match of the 2026 season.
