The Dolphins have confirmed their latest signature for 2023, with Brenko Lee officially joining cousin Edrick Lee at the club for the inaugural season.
It was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon by current club the Brisbane Broncos that he would be departing at the end of the 2022 season.
The Dolphins have confirmed his signature on a two-year deal this morning, confirming he would be at the club for at least the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
A one-time Queensland representative who has also played one Test for Tonga, the 26-year-old has struggled this season at the Broncos.
After a breakout 2020 season at the Melbourne Storm which saw him gain selection to a game of the Origin series in an injury-ravaged Queensland squad under Wayne Bennett, Lee spent most of 2021 injured and has played just three games since his arrival in Kevin Walters' squad at Red Hill.
His past relationship with Bennett in Origin camp is believed to be a driving force behind Lee heading to Redcliffe, with the club adding his name to a list of outside backs which includes Jamayne Isaako, Robert Jennings and Edrick Lee, as well as now second row options Euan Aitken and Connelly Lemuelu.

Dolphins CEO Terry Reader said the club were pleased to sign Lee.
“We are very pleased to sign Brenko for our NRL debut,” said Reader.
“He performed well at Origin level under our coach Wayne Bennett and has also played at the Storm alongside Felise Kaufusi and the Bromwich brothers, who will form the core of our leadership group.
“Let’s not forget he has also won an NRL Grand Final.
“And importantly, Brenko is from Brisbane so understands the history and success the Dolphins have had in their 75-year history.”
Lee has played 70 NRL games and scored 24 tries since his debut with the Canberra Raiders in 2014, having also spent time at the Canterbury Bulldogs and Gold Coast Titans during his career.
