36-year-old Melbourne Storm captain Cameron Smith is set to play his 400th game this weekend when his side takes on Cronulla at AAMI Park this Saturday night.

The continuing and overwhelming success of the club has fuelled Smith’s decision to continue playing with the Storm next season. The veteran player signed a sensational two-year deal with Melbourne Storm earlier this year, with the 36-year-old keen to continue his NRL career.

"I don't have any thoughts of finishing up at this stage," Smith told the Daily Telegraph.

"Obviously the team is performing well, that club is in a very good position.

"Everyone knows that when you're winning and there is a good feeling, everyone is happy."

Smith continues to stay fit and in form, which he has been over the whole of his career.

Smith has played at least 23 NRL games each season since 2003, apart from 2010 where a dislocated elbow saw him sidelined for a month.

"You speak to different people and they all have different opinions of when the right time is to keep playing," Smith said.

"You speak to a guy like Craig Bellamy and he's always about if you're still performing and still enjoying it why not play as long as you can.

"You speak to other guys that have played the game at the elite level and they say … the best time for me to (retire) is when you're healthy, my body is still feeling good, I was still mentally fresh, and finished at the very top of my game.

"At this stage, I feel great now, I feel great physically.”
