The Brisbane Broncos are set to increase their departing players list to nine in the coming days, with Jack Gosiewski and Jaiyden Hunt both set to head for the exit gate at Red Hill.
The Broncos last week confirmed seven players were departing, with Grant Anderson, Jesse Arthars, Payne Haas and Gehamat Shibasaki finding new clubs, and the duo of Corey Jensen and Adam Reynolds retiring.
Brisbane, during their botched lap of honour at their final home games, also revealed Delouise Hoeter was leaving after he walked with Reynolds and the other non-playing departures.
That left three players off-contract, and it now appears two have had their fate decided.
First reported late last week, Jaiyden Hunt is still on track to join the Canberra Raiders in 2027 per a News Corp report, while Gosiewski is understood to have been told his contract will not be renewed.
It's unclear at this stage where Gosiewski will continue his career, with the forward who can play on the edge or in the middle having some strong performances for Brisbane during their run to the 2025 premiership, but struggling this year amid injury concerns.
Should the duo both leave, then Brisbane will only have one player left off-contract in fringe half Josh Rogers who is expected to stay.
The Broncos do have Jonah Pezet arriving at the end of the year to add to their stuttering halves depth and selection questions, but Rogers would provide a useful cover in the QLD Cup if he was to stay.
The halves are just one area coach Michael Maguire will have to get right next year after watching his side slump from the premiership to the bottom four this year.
While Maguire has been given full backing of the club to continue as long-term head coach, he will be under the pump if the Broncos get off to a slow start in 2027.
The move on of millions of dollars worth of talent has eased some of the salary cap issues, although the club's recruitment for 2027, focusing on players over 30 with Mitch Barnett and Dane Gagai joining a game getting faster all the time, has raised eyebrows.
Shawn Blore and Jonah Pezet are the club's other two arrivals for 2027, while a host of players have already been re-signed this year.
