Brisbane Broncos forward Jaiyden Hunt has been linked with a move away from the club for the 2027 season.
Able to play in the middle or on the edge, Hunt, now 28 years of age, made the move to the Brisbane Broncos from the St George Illawarra Dragons at the start of 2024.
He had played 14 first-grade games at the Red V, and has added another 25 during his time at the Broncos, sitting on the fringes of the NRL at both outfits.
While he has been a valuable squad member for the Broncos, News Corp are reporting the Raiders have come to the table with an offer totalling around $175,000 per year for the next two years to secure Hunt - something the Broncos with their bloated salary cap simply can't match.
While it's unclear if the deal has been signed at this stage, Hunt was not announced as a departing player from the Broncos last night when they confirmed seven players - being Adam Reynolds, Jesse Arthars, Corey Jensen, Delouise Hoeter, Payne Haas, Gehamat Shibasaki and Grant Anderson - would exit the club.
It left Hunt, Jack Gosiewski and Josh Rogers with their futures remaining up in the air.
Brisbane have thus far added Mitch Barnwett, Shawn Blore, Dane Gagai and Jonah Pezet to their squad for next year, but will now need to focus on players at the bottom of their salary cap, and rising stars, with the money left over.
The Raiders, on the other hand, are looking for re-enforcements in their forward pack.
The club have added no players for 2027 at this stage, although they have re-signed Ata Mariota to the end of 2028 and Joe Roddy through to 2030.
That comes despite the losses of forwards Corey Horsburgh and Morgan Smithies to the Perth Bears, and Josh Papalii to retirement.
Hunt could well be in the mix for regular first-grade game time in the nation's capital next year, whether that be on the edge or in the middle.
The forward, who was born in Brisbane, has scored just the one try at NRL level.
