Storm star Billy Slater will not play in Friday night's Round 25 clash against the Panthers at AAMI Park due to a family emergency.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy revealed that the veteran was a late omission and had to fly to Cairns immediately, postponing Melbourne fans to to official farewell legendary fullback.
The Storm are likely to promote youngsterย Jahrome Hughes to the starting side in place of Slater.
A win over the Panthers would secure Melbourne the minor premiership and a return to AAMI Park for their first final.
