South Sydney forward George Burgess has been hit with a whopping nine-game ban for his eye-gouge on Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah.

Burgess was referred directly to the judiciary without a grading after the incident occurred last Thursday night, becoming the first player to be sent straight to the judiciary with a grading since Sio Soliola did in 2017.

Burgess is off contract at the end of the 2019 season.

    Back for semis should have him fully fit and primed to rip into it.

  2. It’s not a whopping suspension, particularly since he has form. If anything, he has got off lightly – Linnane got 20 weeks and I don’t remember him having form for gouging. Farah is lucky George doesn’t play for Easts – undoubtedly Robbie would have served a lengthy suspension for attacking George’s fingers with his eyes. Uncle Nick would have seen to it.

  3. Fair enough , out till the semi’s , what the hell was he thinking? worse is he gets paid for being suspended, go figure.

    Its a shame really , George has been really good for us and it is sad to see him leave the club in this way, but it was his choice in the end, Bennett said show me something so i can resign you , and he basically went the opposite.

    Hopefully souths won’t need him in the semi’s, 9 weeks out is to long a break to come back in semi final time, anyway souths need to focus on getting back in form and we should be close to full strenght when we play Manly, our backline looks really good and hopefully we get back to playing to our potential good that commentators and rival supporters are writing us off, i like the underdog tag.

    If George was a rooster would have fined Farah $10k for deliberately putting his eye in that position.

  6. All I can say is, NO, NO, NO, to the powers that be at Parra.
    I didn’t understand, and I didn’t like the fact we were throwing big money at him in the first place (I’m glad he knocked us back), and whilst I’m not going to bag him or hold this against him (long term), he’s not the right “big forward”. for us.
    This will probably drop a $100k or 2 off his price, but I hope we don’t try and chase that.

  7. He is getting help, he says he’s in a nursing home but it’s actually a mental care facility for rooster supporters with severe inferiority disorder caused by the success of Souths.

    I can understand that, given Penso knows much more about RL and the Bunnies than “facts/stats” straight off of Wikipedia, but given you’re such a “hard core Bunnies suppprter”, maybe you could learn something from that.
    For the record, I’d very nearly dropped off reading/posting on this site because those (like Penso, and so many others), that have real insights and opinions have stopped posting.
    As far as I’m concerned I’m giving this (ZT) another go, because I like reading and debating RL with like minded people, and I really don’t care if you bag me or the Eels (invent a “comeontheeels” tag etc), but if you do actually have something to offer, why not change your tag (yet again) and start posting as an adult?

  15. Too right, the maggot got of way too lightly. He should have been rubbed out for 6 months. He was knuckles deep in Farr’s eye-socket. This would have maybe been acceptable for a first offense but to do it again and only get 9 weeks shows the NRL are softcoqs.
