Despite reports on Saturday suggesting Wayne Bennett was guaranteed to remain at the Broncos for the 2019 season, the Sydney Morning Herald understand the swap deal between Brisbane and South Sydney could still be on.

The Rabbitohs are still hopeful Bennett will make the switch to South Sydney for next season, and are waiting for an official answer from Bennett later in the week.

According to SMH, Anthony Seibold is prepared to join the Broncos immediately, with the club just waiting on Bennett's decision before pulling the trigger.

The swap move has been an on again, off again saga, but finally looks set to be resolved one way or another later this week.

The Bunnies are confident however that if Bennett does remain at Red Hill, Seibold will be able to re-join Souths and coach out the final year of his deal without any hassle or division from the playing group.

South Sydney players are set to return to the club's headquarters on Monday, which is one of the main reasons they have been patient with the whole saga.
