The NRL's match review committee have confirmed three charges from Thursday night's big win for the Melbourne Storm over the Brisbane Broncos as the latest rule experiment was put to the test.
The rule, which allowed teams conceding a try to decide whether they would receive the kick-off or kick-off themselves, wasn't used by either captain until the second half in an affair that was dominated by other headlines, including Brisbane's botched Adam Reynolds apology, and the Storm's big win as Brisbane limp towards the conclusion of a miserable season.
The Broncos, who had picked up a win over the Raiders in Canberra the week before, always looked on the back foot against Melbourne, but at least won't lose any players for next weekend, with the MRC slapping Aublix Tawha with a Grade 1 dangerous contact charge for an offence against Cameron Munster in the 59th minute of the game.
He will face a $1000 fine with an early guilty plea, or risk an extra $500 if he proceeds to the judiciary to fight his charge.
The Storm also had a nervous wait over Moses Leo's high shot on Jordan Riki, while the MRC also found reason to charge a 4th minute high shot from Harry Grant that went unreported at the time.
Leo was actually sin-binned for his 49th-minute shot on Jordan Riki, but won't face any time on the sidelines.
Both players, with clean disciplinary records, have received Grade 1 careless high tackle charges and will face $1000 fines each with an early guilty plea.
Like Tawha, they would risk those fines moving to $1500 if they fight at the panel.
All three players and their clubs have until midday (AEST) on Saturday to determine their pleas, with the trio all available to play in what will be the final game of the year for each club, with the Broncos to face the Bulldogs in Sydney, and the Storm to clash with the Sharks.
