Canberra coach Ricky Stuart is set to sign a new two-year extension, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.

Stuart has been rewarded for a the Raiders' return to prominence this season, currently sitting third on the ladder with 14 wins and seven losses.

The extension gives Stuart the chance equal Tim Sheens' record as the club's longest serving coach, who was in charge for nine consecutive seasons from 1988-1996.

The 52-year old is one of the frontrunners for Dally M coach of the year along with Des Hasler and Brad Arthur.

The news comes as Canberra prepares for its massive top four clash against Manly in Canberra on Sunday.

Stuart's new deal is expected to be announced before the finals.
