Magic Round, since its inception in 2019, has been a fan-favourite among the rugby league faithful.
Following the great commercial success it brings to the Brisbane economy, former NRL legend Matty Johns is calling for the footy festival to be brought across the Tasman.
“I'm always conscious (that), less is more, and we do one (already)," Johns said on SEN 1170 and SENQ's The Run Home.
“But, I honestly believe that we should have one on, this time of the year, maybe a couple of weeks earlier, and then put one on about Round 18 in Auckland.
“Because it's almost like a thank you to New Zealand, the Warriors fans.
“Like, the Warriors fans every year get the gold medal.
“It's insane, how much they get behind the game, and how much the game is growing there exponentially every single year.
“I just think it'd be a great concept to put it over there.”
Brisbane saw a large following of Warriors fans, who flooded the streets and dominated other NRL fan bases at Suncorp Stadium.
In this year's Magic Round, the Warriors defeated local side, the Brisbane Broncos, 42-12 with great help from the massive turnout of fans who flooded through the gates.
Could New Zealand be rewarded for the great enthusiasm shown by the fans with another dedicated NRL round purely in Auckland?
Brisbane owns the rights to Magic Round following a recent contract extension which saw the city own the 24/7 footy tournament until 2032.

Given the time and cost of travelling to NZ from Aus, and the cost of staying there too, I am confident that most fans would prefer a second Magic Round to be hosted in Sydney.
SERIOUSLY HOW MUCH MORE DOES THE KIWI WANT, THEY HAVE TAKEN OVER ORIGIN NOW BLOODY MAGIC ROUND GO BACK RUGBY.
What about rewarding some of our own cities that get very little love. Sydney has 9 teams, an Origin every year and a grand final every year. Brisbane has 2 teams, gets an origin game every year and Magic Round. Other places like Canberra (well I suppose its an easy drive to Sydney), Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth get precious little. No wonder those last 3 places are AFL strongholds.
Canberra is so small, sadly we get nothing because of that
