News moves very quickly in rugby league.

Yesterday, reports of Storm young gun Jonah Pezet's future dropped and it immediately set a number of moves into motion.

The unprecedented deal will see him join the Eels for 2026 before moving to the Broncos on a longer-term deal.

Many dominos will fall on the back of this news but none are bigger, or carry bigger hype, that Broncos rookie Coby Black.

For those who aren't aware of the 19 year-old prodigy, go back and watch his match winning performance in this year's Under 19s State of Origin contest.

He was sure to be in hot demand prior to this move but the fact that Pezet and Ezra Mam look to have the halves spots locked up in Brisbane for the long-term, his potential signing just became very real.

Here are SEVEN potential landing spots for Brisbane's Coby Black:

5. South Sydney Rabbitohs

The Bunnies endured a full 2025 season without knowing who their preferred halfback option really was.

Lewis Dodd's tenure at the club was a disaster. Jamie Humphreys looks the guy but injury and suspensions kept him from really getting a roll on. Cody Walker is a pure six. Jayden Sullivan is handy.

If Humphreys isn't seen as the option, or is willing to shift back into the number nine, then Coby Black suddenly becomes the answer to Wayne Bennett's prayers.

Bennett's track record of dragging the most out of players should be a selling point for Black and his management.

Cody Walker may be running out for his final season in 2026 so perhaps a Black, Humphereys combination may be the go. Or Black, Sullivan with Humphreys at nine.

No matter what the final combination, it's far better with Black

  1. If he goes to the eels he’s playing 6 until Moses retires. Moses is their guy they’re not moving him even though he’d likely be happy to. Knights are another option. Conflicting reports about where all the spine fits in Smith rumoured to be signed as a 9 then Holbrook said he’s a 7 then Brown says he’s happy to play either 6 or 7. I’m not going to say the rumours about Ponga will play into it because it’s just pathetic anyone believes it at this point. If all the “good mail” around Ponga was true he would of already played for the broncos went back to the cowboys played for the dolphins, roosters had a few stints in rugby and been announced as Perth’s first signing
