With November 1 now less than two months away, NRL clubs will be scrambling to get their best players locked away before they hit the open market and fetch interest from elsewhere.

On this week's episode of the NRL Contract ShowZero Tackle editor Scott Pryde listed seven key retention targets across the competition who could be in demand if they remain unsigned by November 1.

Xavier Willison

Pryde: "The biggest priority for Brisbane right now is to re-sign Xavier Willison. I know they've been talking about locking down Pat Carrigan long term, but he's already locked away until 2028. They've been working very hard on their spine, but Xavier Willison is the future of their forward pack and should be their leader for many years to come. If he arrives on November 1 without a deal, he's going to have a lot of clubs throwing up to seven figures at him. That's probably why he's holding out at the moment."
