Newcastle already have hookers Danny Levi and Slade Griffin at the club, but coach Nathan Brown is reportedly interested in adding Test No.9 Issac Luke to the mix next season.

Luke is out of contract at the Warriors, and while the club said back in July they would love to do whatever it takes to keep him in New Zealand, the 31-year-old is yet to receive a contract offer to stay at the Warriors.

According to the Newcastle Herald, Brown met with Luke last week in Wellington, with the club interested in bringing him in to cover for his countryman in Griffin, who is set to miss at least half the season after suffering his fourth ACL tear of his career in July.

Levi is contracted at the Knights next season, but remains their only fit hooker currently on contract, with Jamie Buhrer and Tom Starling without deals for 2019 as it stands.

Both Levi and Luke have been selected in the Kiwis' train-on squad for the September Test against Australia.
