Newcastle has their sights set on a Cronulla Sharks forward, just days after releasing a former Shark from their side.

The Knights released Jesse Ramien on Thursday morning, but have now turned their attention to current Sharks forward Kurt Capewell, and hope to bring him to the club next season.

Capewell may be on the outer at the Sharks given their salary cap issues, and is out of contract at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Knights will be looking to add Capewell onto their roster for 2020, and he would join current teammate Jayden Brailey at Newcastle, with the hooker signing a three-year deal commencing next season.

Capewell has played 58 games for the Sharks since making his debut in 2016.
