Broncos veteran Alex Glenn is set to knock back offers from rivals to remain at Red Hill, according to The Courier Mail.

It is being reported that he is likely to sign a new two-year extension.

The 31-year old could have earned more if he moved to a Sydney club, but the Broncos are now confident his new two-year deal will see him retire as a one-game player.

The new deal would make him just the fourth player in Broncos history to notch 300 games for the club, joining Only Darren Lockyer (355), Corey Parker (347) and Sam Thaiday (304).

Glenn is coming off a consistent 2019 campaign, playing 21 games in the centre and back half as the Broncos were cruelled by injuries.

He told The Courier-Mail last month that he was keen to remain at Brisbane.

“I know with all the signings this year (retaining Matt Lodge, Tevita Pangai Jnr and Jake Turpin), the money will be drying up,” he said.

“I want to stay, 100 per cent. That’s what I am hoping for but it’s up to my manager to sort that out and come to an agreement with the club to keep me here.

“I’m 31, it can be a harsh industry and a lot of players have been forced to go overseas. Me personally, I have a lot more to give in this game. Age is just a number and I feel great.

“I am still playing some good football personally and it is great to know other clubs are showing interest in me.”

  1. Broncos make some dumb decisions but this isn’t one of them. Pangai Jr is definitely not worth what they gave him. They still have huge deals for Boyd, McCullogh, Bird and Milford on the books.

The reports from last week said the titans are willing to swap Ash Taylor to another club and the broncos were interested but didn’t want to pay him his big deal. Why not swap Bird or Boyd or McCullogh for Taylor. Ash was a former bronco who stood out at age group level, maybe a move back home will help him regain form. The Titans could easily take Bird back and hope for the best, they could take McCullogh cause he’s still a reliable good hooker and then shop Nathan Peats away.

I still think in order for the Broncos to get better they should work on making a good spine. They have the young forwards they just need a spine.
    1. Milford
    6. Dearden
    7. Taylor
    9. Turpin
    14. Paix
Is what it should be with maybe swap Sean O’Sullivan for someone new. The forwards will be stacked with Lodge Haas Pangai Fifita Ofahungue Glenn Gillett Carrigan and so on, that’s not a worry. In the backline you have options with Oates Isaako Boyd Staggs Shibaski Coates Perese.

  2. Taylor? The dude is on $1 million. Milford is not a fb for $1 million either.
Taylor and milf arent the answers thats for sure.

  3. He should have any future contract stipulate that he plays in the forwards. He is a great edge runner and defender, but is a pretty ordinary centre. It is a blight on the Broncos recruitment and management that he ever had to play centre.

  4. Swap McCullogh for Ash Taylor. Yes the broncos have to pay more but by the time you let Jack Bird leave you’ll have a little bit of cap space.

  5. Milford player half a season at FB and the broncos did manage to turn things around and make the finals. If he gets a full preseason to train at FB he will be better. I’d drop Boyd into the backs as either a centre or winger now. I’d probably start Oates and Isaako on wings and Staggs and Boyd centres. Shibaski Perese and Coates the back ups

  6. swa9muffin: I don’t rate Isaako. His defence is bad. Milford sucked this year all he wanted to do was run across field and call blokes under. Useless. Boyd’s not a 6. I recon if they have to keep Boyd he goes on the wing instead of Isaako or in the centre instead of Glen. I’ve no Idea why Glen is at centre when there are guys like Coates and Farnsworth in the squad. Farnsworth goes hard.

  7. Hey Swa9..
How are the Titans going to take Bird & McCullough? They don’t have any budget to do any of that?
If they let Ash Taylor go, they could afford one of them, but not both. In their review, it was said they only have money for a couple of minor changes. Not enough to buy any big names.
No one wants Boyd either. Broncos have to pay him out. To get rid of him.

  8. Didn’t say the titans would take Bird. I just said Bird would leave too. If I was to have a guess I’d say Aiken and Dufty leave the Dragons and Bird goes back to them.
So McCullogh to the Titans he would he a solid starter and leader for that team. They desperately need a leader too. Then the Titans could also release Nathan Peats, I’d say he should go to the Tigers, and still keep Mitch Rein as back up.
Don’t have a problem with Boyd staying at the Broncos he’s signed a deal and that’s that. If I were the broncos tho I’d play Boyd in the centres or wing
