The PNG Chiefs have officially unveiled their logo and jersey as they prepare to enter the NRL in 2028.

On Wednesday morning, the Chiefs logo was revealed for the first time to representatives from the Papua New Guinea and Australian Governments, PNG Chiefs, and the NRL.

Local Papua New Guinean graphic artists designed the logo and the club recognised local artist TABU as the jersey's official designer.

The club emphasised the country's values of diversity and represents people who call Papua New Guinea home.

"As a club representing the world's most linguistically diverse nation with more than 800 languages spoken across Papua New Guinea, the PNG Chiefs logo represents more than just a city or a province – it represents the millions of people who call it home," the club explained in the official statement.

PNG Chiefs official logo and jersey causes divide with fans

Social media has quickly reacted to the team's logo and jersey after the presentation, with mixed reactions.

"Oh good, it's the same as the New Zealand Warriors," one fan sarcastically said.

"I think it looks great," a Manly Sea Eagles fan said.

"God, that's so boring. Also, all-black playing in PNG's climate? Yikes," another person said.

"The PNG Chiefs logo could be better. But the kit is 🔥🔥🔥🔥," another rugby league fan posted.

The Chiefs will start recruiting more players from rival clubs on November 1 and build their roster for their inaugural season, becoming the NRL's 19th team in 2028.
